The Benefits of a Remote Family Agreement Lawyer in BC

Remote BC Family Agreement Lawyers

While many have notions of a lawyer being someone who goes to trial in their fancy suits and black brief cases, we are a new breed of family law firm in British Columbia. We believe in being convenient, affordable, and done from the comfort of your own home, or frankly, wherever! With no sacrifice to quality or personal attention, we are truly the future of family law in British Columbia. There is no need to miss work or other important events, just to battle downtown parking for a meeting with a distracted lawyer. Not only does our firm keep you out of court, but we keep you out of any overpriced offices as well.

Can anyone be represented by a remote firm?

Unfortunately, no. This is why our initial call with one of our team members is so important. We want to make sure that we are going to be a great fit, and this call is the best way to see to that. Since we are 100% remote, we are not able to represent those who will need mediation or who will need to go to trial. If that is you, we can refer you to someone better suited to handle your file.

Is everything still legally binding, if done remotely?

Yes, we are careful to ensure that all of our agreements are legally binding and enforceable in court. Ultimately, how the agreement is interpreted by a court will depend on many variables, so we cannot guarantee the outcome if your agreement is challenged. We use best practices to give your agreement the greatest legal weight possible. This includes collecting sufficient disclosure and ensuring that both parties sign the agreement voluntarily, in the presence of witnesses. We highly recommend that both parties receive adequate independent legal advice.

How do you sign an agreement virtually?

We use a combination of Zoom, and a PDF signing app to witness and execute your agreement. All of the programs we work with are easy to use, no need to be an IT professional just to work with us.

How does ongoing communication with you work?

Most of our ongoing communication is done through phone, and e-mails. We are able to receive all disclosure documents through e-mail, which makes it easier to gather the documents you need, and send them to us when you have them.

I’d rather things be done face-to-face, so it’s more personal.

While everyone has their personal preferences as to how they like to engage with others, especially during such sensitive times, we pride ourselves in our communications skills. You’ll always find a friendly and understanding voice on the other side of the phone, or e-mail. Since we are a boutique family law firm, we are able to give our clients the dedication and attention they deserve.

If you’d like to give our remote family law firm a chance at your family agreement, as a way to take back your time, and save a ton of money over in-office firms, book an initial call with one of our team members to see if we’re a match.
